Say hello to Videeoh!

Another service brought to you by the people behind Job Fairs. Videeoh is a brand-new website, geared towards creating your own Video CV.

So, you are looking for a job? Why use “Videeoh”?

Did you know? Employers spend, on average, 6 seconds reading your CV when you apply for a job, just 6 seconds. This is the best reason to do a Videeoh because it is more interesting and easier for Employers to use it than going through a pile of old school CVs.

The face-to-face element that Videeoh CV offers you is key; we know this because recruiters have told us for years. When we run face-to-face Job Fairs the companies that use them to hire staff tell us time and again that it is so good that they met the candidate face-to-face because they could actually “see” what kind of person they are and that this was much more important than the CV they gave them.

Creating a “Videeoh” CV is a great way to practice for interviews and stand out from other applicants. It is also great to prove your able to speak foreign languages!

But what if you are a Recruiter? Why should you entertain a “Videeoh” CV?

Simply speaking, a 2 minute “Videeoh” CV from the candidates has some real advantages over written CVs. Probably the biggest advantage is that you get to meet the candidate, you can assess their attitude and body language, their tone of voice and generally how they would come across in person. It gives you a great first opportunity to picture that candidate working in your organisation.

Research has shown that 80% of communication is nonverbal. When you are looking at a written CV, you are missing 80% of what the candidate has to offer, which means you are basing your interview decisions on just 20% of the available information.

There is nothing better than meeting the candidate to help you decide. The candidate will be taking you through what they have done, their qualifications, what they are looking forward to doing and generally letting you know more about who they are.
Another advantage is that you will avoid CV fatigue because each candidate will have a face, a voice and a definite attitude and energy of their own. This means that selecting for the interview stage can be much more accurate and efficient.

We have worked alongside recruiters for 10 years at face-to-face recruitment events and they have often told us how difficult it is to decipher written CVs; you can end up trying to read between the lines and mind read the candidate’s character. They have told us many times they want to avoid that sinking feeling 30 seconds into an interview after you realise that the candidate is so completely different from their CV and/or phone conversion beforehand that you begin to wonder whether their CV was in fact a complete fiction. We have been reliably told by recruiters that this can happen.
