"I spoke to about 4 or 5 different companies today that I’m keen to go after and pursue from the event. It’s great to have a face to face meeting with the employers rather than submitting CVs online that may get lost. It’s definitely worthwhile attending, it gives people the chance to show employers what they can do in person."

"A BIG thank you for organising your Jobs Fair events. My son graduated from university and started an office job with a 3-month probation period. A week before the probation ended, he was ‘let go’ without much explanation. It felt out of the blue and we realised that they took on a number of people for just one vacancy and let a number of new starters go. The whole experience knocked my son’s self confidence and motivation. After that he was reluctant to apply for jobs saying things like ‘I won’t be able to do that’, or ‘they won’t want me’. He did apply to some online but didn’t always get a response which again was fuelling his negative mindset. I persuaded him to attend a Jobs Fair. He reluctantly walked in with me and told me that ‘there was nothing going to be there for him, and it was a waste of our time!’ However, the event was bright, informal and inviting, we walked round all the stalls. Everyone was positive and extremely approachable. Not everything was relevant to my son as there was stands from very different industries, I would say something for everyone. Within 10 minutes he had engaged in conversation with people from companies. They were saying things like, ‘you’re just what we are looking for’, ‘have you considered this…?’, ‘we would never treat anyone like that, you’ve been unlucky’ and ‘we would love to give you an opportunity'. In no time I left him there happily chatting to companies. I can honestly say the whole experience boosted his confidence and gave him his Mojo back. He now has a full time job, which he loves and is thriving at and enjoys much more than the original job he had and he feels that they ‘did him a favour’ by letting him go! I have no doubt that he wouldn’t be in such a good place now if it had not been for The Jobs Fair. The fact you provide an informal face to face contact for people looking for work and various employers is priceless, please keep doing it. You don’t realise what a positive impact it has on people. Thank you!"
