About Us

BlueLight Commercial was established in 2020 by the Home Office, to work in collaboration with blue light organisations (police, fire, ambulance) and local/national suppliers, to help transform their commercial procurement services. We have been set up as a not for profit, private company and are able to act as a contracting authority, creating a single voice to the market with an agile commercial engagement model.

We are owned by the Police Crime and Crime Commissioners and our members include policing bodies and other blue light sector organisations such as the College of Policing and National Crime Agency. Our team is drawn from blue light organisations, industry and other public and private sector businesses. It’s this diversity that allows us to see things from a different perspective.

We operate in virtual teams of commercial specialists with a dedicated lead to support local and regional needs. We offer practical advice on all aspects of the Commercial Lifecycle and we actively manage strategic suppliers to secure maximum value for the forces. Our work has a direct and positive benefit to the people and the world around us. By partnering with blue light organisations we are influencing the use of public resources, as we create social value that is put back directly into front-line services. Through our collaboration with suppliers we are able to shape the environmental impact of the supply chain and deliver trusted products where they are needed most.

What it’s like to work for us?

Whilst we are all home based we are structured into small teams. Everyone is very friendly and there are lots of opportunities to meet in person for example attending courses, events, and training.

Each of our commercial categories, such as Drones, Sustainability, Uniforms, E-procurement, Contingent labour, are managed within a pillar, where expertise is combined to drive value. The three commercial pillars are Estates & Operations, Fleet & Aviation, People & Professional Services. Supporting the business and members, are core functional areas which enhance the value we can deliver through centres of expertise such as Revenue Generation, Analytics, HR, and Learning and Development.
