Glide are a leading managed service provider of infrastructure and connectivity solutions to the ‘difficult to serve’ internet service provision market in the UK. The business splits into three main divisions; Student and Residential markets, and the Enterprise sector. All of these markets are growth sectors.
In the UK, the number of internet users is forecast to be 65.66 million by 2027, and the largest demographic within these users, are students. They are a difficult market to service, typically being high-density located and high consumers of data and bandwidth. The advent of Covid-19 has only increased this need, with enhancements in digital learning and communication. In addition, they are also a demographic that is set to continue to outpace data-usage growth over the next ten years, relative to all other age groups.
This continues way beyond graduation as - due to high housing costs - young people are increasingly likely to rent ‘build-to-rent’ accommodation for a much longer period.
Glide provide best-in-class networking hardware straight into new-build student halls or by retrofitting older buildings. Similarly, in the ‘build-to-rent’ market Glide install network infrastructure across whole sites and enhance their visibility with smart technologies.
The third sector, Enterprise, provisions fibre network and connectivity infrastructure across the UK to service rural and semi-rural business parks. In recent years the fibre rollout has progressed into city centres, delivering businesses full fibre broadband services up to 10Gbit/s. The Enterprise portfolio has also expanded, including business critical services such as security, VoIP, data centre and cloud connectivity solutions.
Across all sectors, Glide are specialists in serving the B2B part of the market, with solutions tailored at either the landlord, housing development corporation, business owner or wholesale partner.

At Glide, we help our people to make the best of themselves. This works really well when we know what our people are looking to achieve in their career; it’s a two-way process which is facilitated by our performance and development review programme.
We advertise our vacancies internally and we encourage our people to try stretching roles. We are really proud that in the first six months of 2023, nearly forty people transferred roles including a number of promotions. That’s nearly 15 % of our workforce.
We promote the use of secondments to encourage people to try something new. We launched Glide University in 2022 which gives employees access to all sorts of qualifications, skills and leadership training.
