About Us

Gofal Cymru Care runs a number of small (maximum 6 bedroom) homes in Cardiff and Barry, providing 24 support in a residential setting for teenagers and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. This includes people with autism, acquired brain injury and a range of complex needs.

The fundamental aim of everyone working within the company is to ensure the well-being of the individuals we support and enable them to live their lives to their fullest potential.

We seek to create a safe, welcoming, ‘home from home’ environment where residents feel safe and happy and their family and friends are welcome. As far as possible residents are supported to make their own choices and plan their own budgets. This includes choice of decoration/furnishing of the home, menu planning and planning of activities.

Our staff teams encourage independence by helping residents make informed choices about all aspects of their life; learn various skills and build their confidence with a can-do attitude; encourage them to take part in a range of educational, social and recreational activities that match their interests and ability.

What it’s like to work for us?

Our staff team are dedicated to making a difference to the lives of those we support, helping them learn and develop new skills, interact with others, meet their personal goals and achieve their full potential.

You need to be caring, empathetic, enthusiastic, flexible, keen to learn and develop your own skills and be able to work well as part of a team.

As well as helping with personal care as necessary (washing, dressing, toileting, etc) staff support residents to carry out activities both in and outside of the home, e.g. cooking, cleaning, shopping, days out, leisure activities, going on holiday, all in line with their abilities and interests.

Our homes are all small units so staff get to know the residents very well, which benefits everyone. Full training is given to enable staff to carry out their role to the best of their ability, and there is support from an experienced corporate team as well as from in house management.

We hold regular company wide partiers and events so that staff and residents can interact with others from all of our homes, get to know each other, and enjoy themselves.

The work is not always easy, but it is always hugely rewarding.

The type of jobs we recruit for?

We are always on the look out for Support Workers, for both part time and full time posts. Being a driver is not essential but it can be an advantage so that you can drive our company vehicles and take residents out.

Care work is of course 24 / 7 so staff usually need to be able to work all shift patterns, although there is sometimes opportunity for nights only positions.

Occasionally we also recruit for more senior positions - Senior Support Workers for those looking for the first step up the management ladder, and Team Leaders for those with more experience.

Management and corporate / administrative posts sometime come available.
