Job Fairs Limited – A History

Job Fairs Limited was born in August of 2010 and has gone on to have an exciting first decade in business.

The timeline below represents our history of events, in numbers, and how we have grown into the longest established and #1 Jobs Fair provider in the UK:

August 2010 – Company officially created as MGMT Media Ltd. Starting off selling newspaper adverts for our local recruitment newspaper “The Jobseeker” in Norfolk.

1st July 2011 – First Jobs Fair event held in Norwich at The Forum. The company would go on to host 1 further event this year, also in Norwich, at The Assembly House.

3rd February 2012 – A second year of Job Fairs gets off and running. Job Fairs Ltd hosted 9 Job Fairs this year, an increase of 700% on 2011. New locations of Ipswich, Great Yarmouth and Peterborough were added to the schedule.

11th January 2013 – Year 3 began in our home city of Norwich. 39 Job Fairs were to be completed in this calendar year, representing a further 333% increase in output of Job Fair events. 15 new locations were added, a 375% geographical increase.

10th January 2014 – 2014 began with a trip to the capital of Wales, in Cardiff. 46 Job Fair events were hosted in this year. This was just an 18% change on the previous year. Things were about to change, however. 8 new locations (42% increase) were added to calendar in 2014, including places such as Manchester, Liverpool, and Cambridge.

7th January 2015 – At the halfway stage, our 5th year began as it has done before, in Norwich. A new total of 65 recruitment events was achieved this year (41% increase on 2014), in 6 new areas (22% increase on 2014).

15th January 2016 – Beginning in Stoke-on-Trent, this would be the first of 85 Job Events hosted by The Job Fairs in 2016. 20 extra events representing 31% growth on its predecessor. 4 new places (12% increase) were included.

18th January 2017 – Bristol got the show on the road in this year at Colston Hall (now known as Bristol Beacon). Job Fairs Ltd (or MGMT Media as it was back then) smashed into triple digits for the first time, recording 107 events (26% increase) in a calendar year. 13 brand new locations were visited as well, up by 40.5% on 2016. The biggest jump since 2014.

12th January 2018 – Gloucester was the opening act in 2018 and would start another record-breaking year. 137 Job Fairs were held in 2018, increasing the Job Fairs held on the previous year by 28%. An additional 14 towns/cities were added, meaning 28% growth on the last year. The company name was also changed after 8 years, converting from MGMT Media Ltd to Job Fairs Ltd.

16th January 2019 – A year of consolidation for Job Fairs Ltd. 132 Job Fairs were hosted in 2019 which is down by 3% on 2018. 9 more locations were completed, however, which is up 14% on 2018.

8th January 2020 – Our biggest year yet, or it should have been (if it was not for Covid-19). A dizzying 178 Job Fairs had been planned for 2020, which would have represented nearly 35% increase on 2019. It would have seen us tick off 12 more locations from the list too, which is up just over 16% from 2019.

2021 – Job Fairs Ltd remains in hibernation, whilst the effects of Covid-19 remain in circulation. We are hopeful, however, that we should be able to return to what we know, and love, at some point later this year…Face-to-face recruitment!
