Our Top Tips for visiting a Jobs Fair across the U.K.
Show the employers at the Jobs Fair you mean business! Ensure you give them a great first impression.
An employer’s banner or marketing literature may state: hiring sales staff, this might not be all they are recruiting for. Many employers, past and present at Job Fairs have varying roles from customer service to IT support. Make the most of the opportunity to speak with them.
Don’t leave any stone unturned, this is your opportunity to showcase yourself to all the employers at the fair. This is the best way to utilise your time at the jobs fair to its full potential. This enables you to maximise your success at the fair.
It’s always handy to bring some CVs to our events, but it’s not essential. After having a positive chat with an employer, it’s a great way to finish the conversation. Don’t despair if you don’t get round to bringing one! Most employers will have application forms for you to fill out, or alternative ways of applying for their vacancies.
We have around 4-6 Job Boards dotted around every fair, which have local and exhibitor vacancies displayed. If an employer you wish to speak with is busy chatting to another job seeker, use this time to review these Job Boards. Employers vacancies will be displayed with details on how to apply.
Have a chat with our team, one of the Job Fairs Event Organisers will be at the fair. They have organised hundreds of these events, and will be best equipped to advise you.
Having your mobile on you at a Jobs Fair can be very useful. You can use it to take photos of the jobs on the Job Boards. Send your CV to employers electronically. Take down employers contact numbers and check out their websites to apply for any vacancies they have online, as well as at the event.
Our events aren’t just simply “Job” Fairs. There are opportunities to discuss training courses, apprenticeships, voluntary roles, self-employment and career advice. If you’re looking to learn new skills, gain work experience or set up your own business the Jobs Fair is suitable for you.
After chatting with an employer and collecting business cards/exchanging contact information. Connect with them on LinkedIn and pick up your conversation where it left off.
